August 2024 – ISO 14001–certified DBSA recently partnered with Glenn Banaguas and Fr. Ben Beltran, SVD, two Outstanding Filipino Laureates for a tree-planting activity in Tanay, Rizal.
Some 30 DBSA employees and their family members joined the activity, planting a total of 200 bamboo seedlings on a one-hectare plot. An additional 200 seedlings will be planted, and altogether, the bamboo planted is expected to sequester 126 tons of carbon. This volume will offset DBSA’s annual carbon emissions of about 100 tons.
“The participation of every DBSA employee plays a vital role in building a greener, more sustainable future for our community,” said event organizer Skynard Ibalio.
Joining the tree-planting activity was Reyn Allen, 6, who is the son of Reynel, one of DBSA’s messengers and the interim lead for workforce management. Reyn shared how he enjoyed being able to plant a bamboo seedling by himself.
“This tree-planting event is one of many initiatives DBSA has implemented to combat climate change and operate sustainably and ethically. The company has already transitioned some of its messenger teams to e-bikes to reduce environmental impact. We will continue to collaborate with our clients to manage carbon emissions and environmental impact,” said DBSA country director Dr. Krees Castañeda
